Throwback Thursday
A recent throwback... to last fall's residency at Hook Pottery Paper. This morning I confirmed the installation will happen on the 27th at the Towle Theater. I am so excited to see these pieces framed and hung! I'm still working through titles of work (so surmount, below, might not stick). And for that matter, a title for the show. The phase My Love is a River popped into my head earlier this afternoon, and I think it may need to be used somewhere.

postcardswap #4 (part 3: birds)
One of the things I like most about the postcard swap is the variety of work that shows up. I never know what I'm going to see, even when I know the artist's work. It's interesting also to work on curating (so to speak) these posts, fitting work together that doesn't go together, but this post was easy.
As always, the artist names are links, please go see the rest of their work. You can see more work from this swap here and here.

postcardswap #4 (part 2)
Here's the 2nd installment from this round of the postcardswap! There will another two posts to be able to show all the artwork that crisscrossed the US (and the Atlantic to get to and from the UK!) These artists are are local to the Northwest Indiana area, which was entirely unintentional when I put these images together.
Please connect with these artists, if you like what you see here. This is such a small piece of what they do!

in the studio
Just a few new pieces this week.
Out of the studio, I had a wonderful time with a newly formed arts group. I feel so lucky to have been invited to join. There was a brainstorming session Saturday afternoon and I was left full of ideas. This is a really exciting project, but I am not going to say too much about it yet. I also had another feedback session on the papermaking. If I'm able, I'll be squeezing one more in early next week, and then it's decision time so I can get them off to the framers.

postcardswap #4 (part 1)
We had 27 artists for this swap, many I know in real life, some I know online only, and some I don't know at all. The premise of this project is to connect a bunch of artists from all over with other artists. Each participant sends out a postcard sized piece of artwork and receives one in return. Artist names are links to their websites/blog/facebook page etc. Please check out the rest of their artwork and connect with them!
Many thanks to these great artists for joining this round! There will be additional blog posts with more of the artwork coming up and links will be added here.

in the studio
This was really not a great week of art making. The first week or two of teaching always causes a disruption in ...everything. I made self-portraits with approximately 275 second graders this week, and led an adult class in a Robert Indiana inspired piece. I was quite happy with the latter, and am going to add that into the home school curriculum for the next session. Next week I will be better ...at everything.

Out of the studio had a lot going on as well. Wednesday the Indigenous Landscapes show reopened in an expanded format at the Indiana Welcome Center, which is a huge venue. My collagraph prairie #3 received an honorable mention which was a very nice surprise. On Saturday I checked out the opening at White Ripple which had solo shows for Shari LeMonnier and Kathy Los-Rathburn and Sunday I went to The Porter County Museum for a reception and artist talk about the Valpo CSA (community supported arts) program. I know a number of the artists participating in this project. I do believe a limited number of shares are still available here. This is a really worthwhile venture, I encourage you to take a look at their site.
